Frequently asked questions

Will resizing distort my image?

Not while the aspect ratio is locked, which is the default — set a width and the height follows automatically. Unlock it only when you deliberately need a specific non-proportional size.

Can I make an image larger?

You can, but enlarging cannot add detail that was never captured, so the result will look soft. Going beyond about 150% of the original is rarely worth it.

What is the difference between resizing and compressing?

Resizing changes the pixel dimensions — how big the image is. Compressing changes how much data is used to store those pixels. Both reduce file size; resizing is the better first move when an image is far larger than it needs to be on screen.
