Frequently asked questions
Why does my photo look sideways here but upright on my phone?
Cameras often store the picture in one orientation and add an EXIF tag saying how to turn it. Some apps honour that tag and some ignore it, which is why the same file looks different in different places. Rotating here bakes the correct orientation into the pixels, so it appears the same everywhere.
Does rotating lose quality?
The turn itself does not — quarter turns just move whole pixels around. Saving as JPG re-encodes them, which costs a little. Keep the quality slider high, or choose PNG, if the file will be edited again later.
Can I rotate by an arbitrary angle, like 5 degrees?
Not here. Free rotation has to invent pixels along the new edges and either crops or leaves blank corners, which needs a different tool. This one does the quarter turns, which is what fixes a sideways photo.
Can I rotate several images at once?
Yes. Add as many as you like and the same rotation applies to all of them, downloading together as a ZIP. That is the usual case — a batch off one camera is normally wrong in the same direction.
