Your file is processed on your device and is never uploaded.

What this tool does

  • Runs on your device — nothing is uploaded

Frequently asked questions

Will converting to PNG improve my image quality?

No — and this is the most common misunderstanding. Compression artefacts already baked into the JPG are permanent, and PNG simply preserves them exactly. What PNG gives you is no *further* loss from that point on, which matters if you plan to edit and re-save repeatedly.

Why is the PNG so much bigger?

PNG is lossless, so it stores every pixel precisely rather than discarding detail. For a photograph that commonly means a file five to ten times larger than the JPG.

Does this add transparency?

No. The PNG supports transparency, but a JPG has no transparent areas to carry over, so the result is fully opaque. To cut a subject out of its background, use Remove Background.
