Compress an image to 10 KB

Aim at a hard 10 KB limit. The tool searches for the highest quality that still fits, and tells you the exact final size.

Your file is processed on your device and is never uploaded.

What this tool does

  • Automatically finds the best quality that fits 10 KB
  • Shows the original and final size side by side
  • Reduces dimensions too, if quality alone is not enough

How to use compress image to 10kb

  1. Add your image

Drop in a JPG, PNG or WebP file.

  2. Let it find the setting

The tool tries repeatedly until it lands at or under 10 KB.

  3. Check and download

Compare against the original, then save.

Frequently asked questions

Why do I need an image under 10 KB?

10 KB is about as small as an image upload limit gets, and shows up on older government portals and on signature fields that expect little more than a scanned line of ink.

Can any image be compressed to 10 KB?

A signature or a simple monochrome scan reaches 10 KB without much trouble. A photograph will not survive it intact — the tool has to cut the dimensions hard as well as the quality, so treat the result as a thumbnail rather than a picture.

What will the result actually look like at 10 KB?

A signature or line drawing keeps its shape and stays clean. A photograph comes out around 300 to 400 pixels on its long edge with visible softness and blocking around edges — usable as the thumbnail a form renders, not as a picture anyone will look at closely.

How does it hit the target?

It repeatedly re-encodes the image, adjusting quality by binary search until it finds the highest setting that still fits. If quality alone cannot get there, it progressively reduces the pixel dimensions as well. The whole search runs on your device, typically in under a second.

Which format gives the smallest file?

PNG for a signature or any scan that is essentially black on white: flat areas compress enormously and edges stay crisp. JPG for anything photographic — PNG cannot reach 10 KB with a photograph at any useful size.
